When my childhood friend asked if I would make some wedding stationery for her I was honoured... She and her mum had made all the wedding invitations and she wanted the thank-yous to be a surprise for her mum and the rest of the wedding party.
She gave me a piece of the card that was used to create the day invitations and I was able to match this up perfectly and create a card that was just to her taste. I had previously designed one similar for my friend who was attending a wedding in India... So these cards were to use the colour regal rose and confetti white to contrast for the inserts to the card.
I embossed the very vintage wheel onto sheets of regal rose card in silver and trimmed them to size for the pieces that I needed to make gate fold cards. I kept the cards very simple other than the embossing as I didn't want to take away from the words that Mandy and Darryl would use for their family and friends...
The inside of the card only had a small strip of regal embossed card to the left hand side and I also added 3 gems by the top for decoration. I stamped the 'thank you' in the bottom right hand side of the card in regal rose ink... The stamp that I used for this was from a set I recently sold - but what a lovely font!
Mandy loved her cards and I loved making them - there is nothing better than knowing that your work is being used for such a special occasion...
The second part of Mandy's order I really struggled with...
Mandy and Darryl wanted a candle to light during the service that was in memory of Darryl's parents who have sadly passed away. Having lost my mum 17 years ago I wish that I had thought to something like this and I think that it is a beautiful idea and one I have never heard of before.
Mandy was not sure what image she wanted on the candle but she wanted words that would remember her in-laws during their special day.
Here is the candle -
The only images I have of angels are a Christmas one and the one I used that I had to doctor - she should be holding a teddy which I had to mask off as I felt it not appropriate under the circumstances... The sentiment is from one of my oldest Stampin' Up! sets and I think that the words are beautiful.
I will be entering my candle in the following challenges:
Anything Goes Challenge - anything goes (my candle)
Oozak - anything goes (my candle)
I Brake for Challenges - anything but a card (my candle)
Just Keep Creating - anything goes - (my candle)
Bling it On - monochrome (my candle)
I hope you have enjoyed today's post and thanks for stopping by!
