Being a critique for your own work!

At the beginning of the week I saw that the challenge over at Emma's Cards was chocolate, so I thought that this would be a great opportunity to use the technique that Debbi Powell shared a few weeks ago where you just use one colour pro-marker and a blender pen to colour the image.
I decided that I would use one of the image's that I stamped at craft group last time - and again I am sorry I don't know where the stamp is from she is very cute though!

So I used my one pro-marker to colour her with a blender pen and I love the effect that this creates.
The first card that I am going to show today was the first attempt that I had at this challenge - I always make very simple cards and this was no exception...

I used a white card blank and I used a polkadot embossing folder to create a textured background in craft - I then inked the edges of this in chocolate chip ink, with a dauber. On to this I then attached two antique brads - one in the top left and one in the bottom right...
I then attached the image to the top right and inked the edges again in chocolate chip - I used a sentiment from curves verses and stamped this in chocolate chip and again inked the edges... As you see a very simple card and very in-keeping with the cards that I usually make... Whilst having a look on the blogs that I normally go on I saw Lindsay's  entry into the chocolate challenge and - I need to re-visit mine so off I went to my craft desk again and set to work using the same technique with the image (lucky I have stamped two!)

So for the second card I coloured the image in the same way and inked the edges of the panel with chocolate chip.I then added a polkadot piece of card in chocolate chip of which I inked the edges of in the same coloured ink, on top of this I added a top note die cut using the newsprint DSP from Stampin' Up! of which I also iinked the edges on To the left hand side of the polkadot piece I added a strip of craft card that I had wheeled  with the very vintage wheel and following the theme of inking the edges.

To this I coloured some of the flourishes that my lovely friend Tina sent me (again I am not sure what they are)   and I added three card candi to the middle of the card. To the top of the image panel I attached a 'happy birthday' sentiment and then to decorate around the card I added pearls that I think compliment this colour combination very well... I think that this represents the chocolate theme a lot better and I thank Lindsey for her inspiration!
It is funny how we make a card that we are not entirely happy with - to the create something completely different that is the true vision that you had for the card... I am so pleased with how the second card turned out and I hope you like it too.

I will be entering the second card in the following challenge:
Emma's Crafty Challenge - chocolate
Digi Doodle - something new (pro-marker)
Willow Sketchie - lots of layers

So thanks for looking - Debbi x
